A group from Diamond Analytics, combined with a group from Brigham Young University, developed some novel core-shell phases led by Matthew Linford. One approach used 1.7-μm zirconia cores with a 0.5-μm porous nanodiamond shell. After functionalizing with C18, the columns were used to separate aromatic analytes.
